    Our Story

Gathera was born out of a shared passion for gardening, sustainability, and hydroponics. It all started in 2018 when Peter and Dilhan met on a camping trip. From a simple idea—finding a way to grow food indoors—they built a company focused on making hydroponics accessible to all, reducing water use, and designing products that last.

The idea for Gathera took root when Peter’s friend moved into a small apartment and found herself frustrated with the lack of space and sunlight needed to grow her own food. This sparked an idea: What if there was a way to grow fresh produce indoors, even in low-light spaces, without soil? At the same time, Dilhan, who had been working in sustainability, was exploring solutions to reduce water consumption. Hydroponics, with its ability to use up to 95% less water than conventional gardening, emerged as the perfect answer. The synergy between Peter and Dilhan’s backgrounds and passions gave life to Gathera’s mission: making sustainable, indoor gardening accessible to everyone, no matter where they live.

    Our Principles

From the very start, Gathera has been guided by a few core values that remain at the heart of everything we do:

    • Great Customer Service: We believe in the power of community and trust. That’s why our customer service is Australian through and through—friendly, reliable, and always focused on offering care and solutions that go beyond expectations.
    • No Shortcuts: We’re not in this to make a quick buck. Gathera is built for the long haul, with the intention of being around for the next 20 years and beyond. We’re committed to supporting our customers through the entire lifecycle of their gardens—whether it’s servicing products, repairing kits, or helping them regrow with fresh supplies.
    • Design-First Philosophy: With our engineering backgrounds, we naturally gravitate toward smart, thoughtful design. We believe that creating the best products for our customers is the key to delivering long-term value. Quality and function guide every decision we make, ensuring that our products perform exceptionally and stand the test of time.

    Our journey so far

Over the years, Gathera has grown from a small idea into a thriving business, serving tens of thousands of customers across Australia the UK and soon much more. We've had some incredible opportunities including being stocked at Costco, David Jones, Flower Power and more!

Each customer interaction has been an opportunity to learn, refine, and evolve. These experiences have allowed us to continually improve our offerings and build products that genuinely meet the needs of urban gardeners. In 2024, we reached a major milestone with the launch of our most advanced hydroponic gardening range yet—our proudest achievement to date. This collection reflects years of research, customer feedback, and our commitment to pushing the boundaries of what indoor gardening can achieve. We believe it’s the best hydroponic range in the world, designed to bring the joy of growing food to homes everywhere.
