Sprouthouse | Microgreen kit with reusable steel mesh

Absolutely loving my sprouthouses, looking forward to a more sustainable way to grow my microgreens 🥰

The product performs as intended, but there is a bit of a learning curve for beginers. It's important to not oversow the tray as seeds will expand after soaking, but even if you presoak seperately the microgreens will grow too densely and increase chance of mould.

The sowing density will vary by species, just something you need to learn through a bit of trial and error. I use distilled water to get started, and move to tap water to finish the microgreens (fresh running water).

Jars with cheese cloth are better for sprouting, just because of the simplicity of it and never having to fiddle with it; but this has grown quality microgreens (Radish China Rose) really well and i'm still experimenting.

The product is great, just be aware there is a learning curve and there are external factors to consider.

I've bought 2 of them & I've grown microgreens & sprouts. I'm currently growing pea morgan & pink kale in 1 of them & red cabbage & rocket in the other one. Everything seems to be growing well. To prevent mould, once the seeds have germinated and exposed to sunlight, it's time to stop spraying them with water & start adding the water to the main tray, through the stainless steel mesh, but making sure not the get the seed shoots wet. I've also added a microgreens fertiliser to the water tray as well. It will be interesting to see if the fertiliser improves taste & growth rate, texture etc. I get plenty of afternoon sun on the kitchen windowsill, which seems to be enough here in Sydney. I think it's also important to remove the plastic dome as soon as the sprouthouse is ready to receive sunlight as well, otherwise it will create too much humidity under the dome and therefore more of a potential for mould forming on the seeds & microgreens. I'm currently using Mr. Frothergills microgreens from Bunnings & I have tried some other brands which I've bought online & which did seem to work pretty well, but Mr. Frothergills are very well priced seeds & there are a lot of them in the seed packets.

I have grown the best ever microgreens in the new Sprouthouse which is a top quality product cos it’s so quick and easy. At first I purchased one to try then quickly ordered another 3 and now enjoying more broccoli, rocket, basil and Italian clover. Whether you are growing or sprouting, this is without doubt the best purchase you will make. The mister spray is more than perfect and my Bluey now has his own cos he loves it too.

This is a brilliant idea. I’ve been sprouting using jars for 25 years and this is an excellent solution to the condition variables for successfully growing sprouts!

Being able to grow sprouts & microgreens in one container, without buying coir mats (added expense), is a game changer! Solid materials used. I grew Broccoli, Fenugreek, Sunflower & mixed salad very successfully. A Tip : use the cardboard box base to cover the Sprouthouse initially, without having to store them in a dark cupboard. They sat on a windowsill to get warmth in a cold home. Seeds germinated so much faster! Will definitely recommend Sprouthouse to my family & friends 💖

Just purchased my second one of these. Great quality - these are going to last a really long time. And whats not to like? They looks good, work well and easy to clean.

The reusable steel mesh in the Sprouthouse kit is terrific ! It worked out expensive replacing the pads after each use on my previous growing product, so really pleased Gathera have designed such a neat reusable steel mesh. Works well

I recently purchased the sprouting kit and several packs of peas however first time use didn’t have much success.
Following instructions to clean and sterilise the container (and peas) with vinegar and daily regime of rinsing for over a week and not much happened. A few sprouted and only very small.
Overall Found it a bit fiddly to use and high maintenance with no reward.
Not sure what went wrong, but disappointed
